Yes, we wanted this to be possible for lower performance machines. You can toggle houses/ploppables, also the distance at which they stop showing up.

Am I crazy? I thought this was coming out September 15, yet it's in the Futureshop flyer which was effective yesterday (bundled with the Sims2 or separate)
